DESCRIPTION:Allan Domb\, who has had a singular presence in the Philadelphi
 a real estate market for decades\, joined us on December 18 to discuss the
  State of the City of Philadelphia.\n\nBeginning in 1980\, he created a pr
 emier real estate firm in Philadelphia. Through that firm\, he was a leade
 r in the movement to convert existing buildings to highly sought-after con
 dominiums. In doing so\, he helped to transform Center City. In 1990\, and
  again from 2013-15\, Allan served as the President of the Greater Philade
 lphia Association of Realtors. Under Allan’s leadership and vision he ch
 anged GPAR’s mission statement from the “Voice for Real Estate in Phil
 adelphia” to the “Voice for Philadelphia.” It was as a result of his
  vast business experience and involvement in GPAR that Allan realized a ni
 che needed to be filled in the City of Philadelphia’s government. Believ
 ing that he could bring the same business skills and advocacy ability that
  made him a successful businessman to the chambers of Philadelphia City Co
 uncil\, Allan was elected in November 2015 as an At-Large member.\n\nAs a 
 Councilman\, he has committed himself to lowering the poverty rate\, colle
 cting delinquent taxes owed to the city\, increasing graduation rates\, an
 d promoting job growth through the retention of existing business and crea
 tion of new businesses by further attracting millennials in the tech and m
 anufacturing industries to Philadelphia. And\, of course\, he continues to
  have a keen interest in issues affecting the real estate market\, such as
  the 10-year tax abatement program.
